Hanukkah Songs: Sevivon-Dreidle
The dreidl is that spinning top with the four Hebrew letters Nun, Gimel, Hey and Shin (Peh in Israel) on it. They stand for “Nes gadol haya sham (poh, in Israel). Translation: A great miracle happened there (here). The legend is that the Maccabee fighters would whip out a dreidl and play if the Greek soldiers came upon their hideaways.
